Squaw Pass (North side)
Squaw Pass is a scenic mountain pass located in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, USA. It sits at an elevation of 9,807 feet (2,990 meters) and is part of Squaw Pass Road (County Road 103), which connects the towns of Evergreen and Idaho Springs. The road offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks, alpine meadows, and forests, making it a popular route for driving, cycling, and hiking. The pass is a favorite among cyclists due to its challenging climbs and rewarding vistas. The ride from Evergreen to the summit of Squaw Pass is a steady climb of about 17 miles, with an average gradient of around 5%. Cyclists often continue from Squaw Pass to Mount Evans for an even more challenging ascent. The road offers panoramic views, including of Mount Evans, one of Colorado’s 14ers (peaks over 14,000 feet), making the effort well worth it for serious cyclists.
